The mould defines the outsole tread, edge profile and flex grooves.

The forefoot and heel carry load differently. Tread depth, groove spacing and edge thickness are reviewed for each zone.

Slippers, galoshes and sandals

The footbed and surrounding straps determine how the model holds the foot.

For slippers the heel cup is central, for sandals the strap roots, and for galoshes the opening. These geometries guide the choice of release direction.

All-plastic footwear

When upper and sole form a single body, the outside shape and interior volume are designed together.

The rim, ventilation openings and changes in thickness influence flow. The withdrawal paths of the core and the finished article are checked on the model before tooling.

Women’s high heels
ERTAN KALIP / 04

Women’s high heels

Heel height affects both the sole arch and the way the forefoot meets the ground.

The heel seat and waist curvature are matched to the chosen last. With the sample on level ground, forepart contact and balance between left and right are checked.
